Arny Cookies 
Makes 4 dozen 

2 cups shortening
2 cups white sugar
5 eggs
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 pound confectioners' sugar
                   
1. Preheat oven to 350 deg. F. 
2. Cream together shortening and granulated sugar. 
3. Beat in 4 eggs, then stir in flour, salt and baking soda. 
4. Drop by heaping tsp on to ungreased cookie sheets.
5. Bake for 10-12 mins. 
6. Prepare frosting by combining melted butter, vanilla, 1 egg,
   and powdered sugar in a medium bowl. Beat with electric
   mixer until smooth. Frost cookies when they are cool.
