Bryan's Red Ribbon Recipe
Makes 3 dozen
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
3/4 cup shortening
1/3 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
2. Cream together the shortening, egg and egg yolk. Mix in the
sugars, flour, baking soda and salt. Add the rest of the
ingredients and mix ingredients at high speed until well mixed,
occasionally scraping the sides of the bowl.
3. Drop with a tablespoon on greased cookie sheet 1 1/2-2" apart.
Bake for 14 mins or until lightly browned. Remove from sheet
and place on wire rack to cool.
